Canadian Pharmacy Privacy Warning for Americans

Canadian Pharmacy Privacy Warning for Americans

Fake seals found on a rogue Canada pharmacy online.

Langley, British Columbia (PRWEB) November 1, 2010

In search of Canadian drugs at the lowest price, Americans may get more than they’ve bargained for when buying from an online pharmacy. There are literally thousands of online pharmacies purporting to be a “Canadian pharmacy” and offering Canada’s drugs to Americans but in reality there are only approximately 100 that can be verified as licensed Canadian pharmacies online. These other companies usually market their services via spam and masquerade as a genuine Canada pharmacy. They often display fake third party accreditation marks and bogus pharmacy licenses. The fake seals featured here were taken from an actual rogue online pharmacy website. A frequently forged seal is the prestigious seal of approval from the Canadian International Pharmacy Association (CIPA) because the genuine CIPA seal is a trademark which consumers can trust.

“International law enforcement are stepping up their efforts against the kind of unscrupulous people who create these fly-by-night websites that are notorious for selling counterfeit ‘Canadian drugs’ without a prescription,” says Ankur Arora, United States Legal Counsel to NorthWestPharmacy.com, which is one of the largest CIPA certified online Canadian pharmacy websites. This good news comes too late for some, including Marcella Williams of San Francisco, California, who was the victim of identity theft after ordering medication for her grandfather from a rogue online pharmacy website which purported to ship drugs from Canadian pharmacies but was actually based in China. “They opened credit card accounts in my name and charged up thousands of dollars leaving my credit rating a total disaster,” says Ms. Williams who has since been ordering medications for her grandfather’s diabetes and heart condition from NorthWestPharmacy.com. “We were trying to save some money but it wound up costing me a fortune; I wish I had known about the safe service through North West Pharmacy before this happened,” she laments.

Mr. Arora urges consumers, “at a bare minimum click the CIPA seal and make sure it lands on the cipa.com website, and to be extra sure, only buy from Canadian pharmacy sites like NorthWestPharmacy.com which provide extra assurances like the buySAFE 3-in-1 guarantee and those which are TRUSTe privacy certified. Americans can save plenty of money buying Canada’s drugs and can do it safely. Avoid websites selling RX drugs online without requiring a prescription from your own doctor because licensed Canadian pharmacies don’t sell prescription drugs online without a Canadian prescription or American one.”

NorthWestPharmacy.com has served more than half a million patients with authentic Canadian drugs and international medicines. In response to the growing concerns about online identity theft, NorthWestPharmacy.com is proud to offer identity theft protection insurance on every purchase at no charge through some of the largest insurance companies in the world. NorthWestPharmacy.com’s TRUSTe certified privacy further assures consumers that their personal information is strictly guarded when purchasing Canadian prescription drugs online. We are also certified by CIPA, the International Pharmacy Association of British Columbia, and offer a lowest price and satisfaction guarantee which is independently backed through buySAFE. NorthWestPharmacy.com’s Canada pharmacy call center is open 7 days a week and patients are encouraged to contact our knowledgeable pharmacists with any questions about their medications.

Canadian Pharmacy?s Online Drugs Prescribed by U.S. Doctors

Canadian Pharmacy’s Online Drugs Prescribed by U.S. Doctors

(Vocus/PRWEB) April 07, 2011

NorthWestPharmacy.com, the top-rated Canadian pharmacy online comes highly recommended to patients by their physicians. A recent survey by the online Canadian drugs retailer suggests that nearly one out of ten of its new patients come from a recommendation to the site by American physicians. Indeed, major American media outlets like the Arizona Republic have reported that doctors are referring patients to Canadian pharmacies, and specifically to NorthWestPharmacy.com to buy drugs online.

“American doctors are as fed up as the American public is with high drug prices so it is no wonder that so many are referring their patients to NorthWestPharmacy.com,” notes Aman Bhangu, licensed pharmacist at NorthWestPharmacy.com’s Canadian pharmacy. Having practiced pharmacy for several years at chain drugstores in the USA prior to working at a Canadian online pharmacy, pharmacist Bhangu is very familiar with the U.S. medical system. He says the primary reasons that American doctors tell him they have chosen NorthWestPharmacy.com as one of the leading online Canadian pharmacies to refer their patients to are as follows:

Significantly lower prices than American drugs with an average savings of 80%
The only Canadian pharmacy online to receive the prestigious Shopper Approved 5 star seal for outstanding customer service through more than 14,000 5 star reviews from actual customers
Certified by the Canadian International Pharmacy Association
BuySAFE 3-in-1 guarantee on every online drugs purchase which includes product authenticity, price and identity theft protection
    TRUSTe certified privacy

Pharmacist Bhangu notes that even doctors and their families themselves are having their prescriptions filled through legitimate Canadian pharmacies like NorthWestPharmacy.com. “Not only do they refer their own patients but I have countless patients who are themselves medical doctors that get their personal Canadian drugs online from NorthWestPharmacy.com,” he says.

NorthWestPharmacy.com is proud to serve several hundred thousand American patients, including many American physicians, and is often referred to as “America’s Canadian pharmacy” site. Like all reputable Canadian online pharmacies, NorthWestPharmacy.com requires a prescription for prescription Canadian drugs. No licensed Canadian pharmacies will ship such products without a prescription from the patient’s own doctor.

Online Pharmacies Certified by PharmacyChecker.com are Guaranteed to Provide Safe and Authentic Prescription Medications

Online Pharmacies Certified by PharmacyChecker.com are Guaranteed to Provide Safe and Authentic Prescription Medications

Sites approved by PharmacyChecker.com offer safe and authentic medications.

Surrey, BC (PRWEB) August 24, 2010

A recent study, reported in the Public Library of Science One scientific journal, demonstrated a guaranteed outcome of safe, authentic medications being delivered to Americans when ordered from online pharmacies that have been validated by PharmacyChecker.com or the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP). Roger Bate and Kimberly Hess, who conducted the research, state that “indeed, all of the pharmacies approved by both NABP and PharmacyChecker.com passed the authentication spectrometry tests undertaken in this study.” Additionally, it was found that some of the sites which have not been validated by either of these two organizations are selling counterfeit medications.

The study conducted consisted of researchers ordering five brands of prescription drugs from various online pharmacies. Twenty of the 152 websites tested were PharmacyChecker.com approved. The medications collected from the twenty approved sites were tested and were proven to be the genuine product. Six NABP-validated pharmacies products were tested and also showed that they had only genuine medications. Both PharmacyChecker.com and NABP approved sites will not sell unless shown a valid prescription for the requested medication.

This study additionally noted that some online pharmacies verified by PharmacyChecker.com provided foreign versions of FDA-approved medications sold in American pharmacies. Upon further research, all drug manufacturers confirmed that the products delivered were indeed genuine and safe for use. Many PharmacyChecker.com –approved sites strive to provide American consumers with the most affordable prices by partnering with other pharmacies abroad.

For Americans seeking prescription and non-prescription medications at a cheaper price than what is listed in their local pharmacies, this study provides a fail-safe alternative that guarantees authentic products with affordable pricing. Online pharmacies that are certified by PharmacyChecker.com ensure safe and affordable prescription drugs. These certified pharmacies follow the highest dispensing and testing standards thus providing online prescription drug shoppers great peace of mind.

DoctorSolve.com is a PharmacyChecker.com and Canadian International Pharmacy Association (CIPA) approved online pharmacy. DoctorSolve.com has been a trusted pharmacy since 1999 with over 200,000 patrons.

Associated Pharmacies, Inc. Launches a FREE Service to Help Independent Pharmacies Compete With Large Chain Pharmacies and Mass Merchandisers

Associated Pharmacies, Inc. Launches a FREE Service to Help Independent Pharmacies Compete With Large Chain Pharmacies and Mass Merchandisers

Scottsboro, AL (PRWEB) May 27, 2008

A cherished part of Norman Rockwell’s Americana is dying – the family-owned corner pharmacy. Sadly, every day family-owned independent pharmacies throughout the United States are being forced out of business by chain pharmacies and mass merchandisers. The reason for this is chain pharmacies and mass merchandisers are able to negotiate far lower bulk pricing from Brand RX and Generic RX drug distributors. That was until Associated Pharmacies, Inc. (http://www.apirx.com) stepped in to even the playing field.

Associated Pharmacies, Inc. (API) is a cooperative of over 1,000 independent pharmacies throughout the United States. By joining over 1,000 independent pharmacies together as a buying cooperative, Associated Pharmacies is able to negotiate bulk pricing on behalf of the independent pharmacy owner, allowing independent pharmacies to get the same low bulk pricing that chain pharmacies and mass merchandisers are able to negotiate. This allows independent pharmacies to compete on price while generating a solid profit so they can stay in business.

Besides helping independent pharmacies negotiate bulk pricing on Brand RX, Generic RX, and OTC products and inventory, Associated Pharmacies also helps pharmacy owners lower operational costs and become more efficient. One of the programs offered by Associated Pharmacies that is really helping independent pharmacies lower their costs and run more efficiently is a free inventory ordering system, called Scan & Toss™. Scan & Toss™ helps pharmacy owners control inventory costs by automatically ordering the Brand RX and Generic RX inventory the pharmacy needs precisely when they need it, and at the lowest price available through Associated Pharmacies and their prime vendor, Cardinal Health.

Hubert Bryan Jr., the owner of Bryan Pharmacy Inc. and a member of API states, “On Sept 3, 2008, Bryan Pharmacy Inc. will celebrate its 5-year anniversary. It’s a wonderful occasion for us and we could not have done it without the help of API. API has allowed us to thrive in very harsh times for our industry. API has allowed us to compete with the new chain pharmacies that have recently opened just up the street from us. With API, we are competing with the big chains because API gets us ‘big chain’ pricing. API is a buying group. That is what they do. They spend 105% of their efforts negotiating lower drug pricing & another 105% servicing the pharmacies that are members of their cooperative. They concentrate all of their efforts on finding the best drug pricing and I think they do a darn good job of doing it. Thanks for all your hard work API!”

For more information on Associated Pharmacies, Inc. please call 1.800.243.8521 Ext 238 or visit us online at http://www.apirx.com.

Canadian Online Pharmacies Customers Don?t Use Canadian Pharmacy?s Lowest Price Guarantee for Online Drugs

Canadian Online Pharmacies Customers Don’t Use Canadian Pharmacy’s Lowest Price Guarantee for Online Drugs

(PRWEB) May 09, 2011

NorthWestPharmacy.com, dubbed “America’s Canadian pharmacy”, announced today that few American patients find the need to use its Lowest Price Guarantee. The Canadian online drugs merchant’s in-house policy is to beat a competitor’s advertised price. The Canadian online pharmacy also provides a third party price guarantee through the buySAFE buyer assurance program but hardly any of its American patients are using it.

“Patients realize very quickly in their research that NorthWestPharmacy.com already has some of the lowest prices among Canadian pharmacies online as well as five star customer service levels so they don’t get a chance to quote a competing Canadian pharmacy’s online price,” says Mike Bhangu, a manager at NorthWestPharmacy.com’s call center in Langley, British Columbia. Mr. Bhangu estimates that “only one or two patients a day” find a lower price and ask for a price reduction under the guarantee.

He also says that while other Canadian online pharmacies appear to be focused solely on prices, NorthWestPharmacy.com spends as much effort on ensuring the highest levels of customer service. That may be why the Canadian online pharmacy has become the most independently and publicly five star rated among Canadian pharmacies online through Shopper Approved, a highly regarding online ratings firm. More than 17,000 customers of the Canadian drugs website have provided unbiased reviews of NorthWestPharmacy.com. Unlike many other online Canadian pharmacies review platforms, NorthWestPharmacy.com customers are given the opportunity to provide a review through Shopper Approved only after they have made a purchase, which ensures that only genuine customer opinions are solicited. And the Canadian pharmacy retailer has no control over the review process. Shopper Approved displays for the public all reviews and the Canadian online pharmacy is not able to filter or edit them, regardless of whether the reviews are good or bad. Given its commitment to low prices and outstanding service, it is not surprising that NorthWestPharmacy.com is the only Canadian pharmacy online to receive the Shopper Approved five star seal.

The online Canadian drugs site also offers a satisfaction guarantee which is also independently backed through buySAFE. As a leader among Canadian online pharmacies, NorthWestPharmacy.com is certified by the Canadian International Pharmacy Association, the International Pharmacy Association of British Columbia, Pharmacy Checker and it is a TRUSTe certified privacy Canadian online pharmacy. Orders for prescription Canadian drugs online and international medicines require a prescription from the patient’s own doctor just as they would for prescription drugs filled at the patient’s local pharmacy.

Canadian Online Pharmacy Patients Feel Safe With Online Drugs from Legitimate Canadian Pharmacies

Canadian Online Pharmacy Patients Feel Safe With Online Drugs from Legitimate Canadian Pharmacies

(PRWEB) May 30, 2011

NorthWestPharmacy.com, an industry leading supplier of Canada’s drugs online, announces that 96% of its patients who responded to a survey feel safe ordering Canadian pharmacy drugs and international pharmacy medicines from the company. This comes on the heels of recent media attention regarding the risks of buying online drugs.

When asked to explain the reason that legitimate Canadian online pharmacies like NorthWestPharmacy.com inspire so much confidence in their patient base despite the media attention about the dangers of illicit online pharmacies, Aman Bhangu, a pharmacist at NorthWestPharmacy.com’s Canadian pharmacy, says, “American patients are smart enough to know the difference between reputable suppliers of Canada’s drugs and rogue online pharmacies.”

Out of 3000 Canadian online pharmacy patients of NorthWestPharmacy.com surveyed, 752 responded with 722 of them stating that they feel safe ordering from legitimate Canadian online pharmacies and international drugs sites like NorthWestPharmacy.com.

Pharmacist Bhangu also says that “NorthWestPharmacy.com has done a great job in educating its patients regarding the extensive safety measures it puts in place to help ensure safe and authentic online drugs.” He summarizes just some of the features of NorthWestPharmacy.com which have made the Canadian online pharmacy retailer among the most trusted Canadian pharmacies online:

The most independently reviewed Canadian pharmacy online with more than 19,000 Shopper Approved reviews from actual paying customers and the only Canadian drugs company to display the five-star seal from Shopper Approved.
Certified by the Canadian International Pharmacy Association and International Pharmacy Association of British Columbia.
    Pharmacy Checker verified.
All purchases protected by the 3-in-1 guarantee from an independent third party, buySAFE, which is backed by some of the largest insurance companies in the nation.
    TRUSTe certified privacy.
Extensive safety and drug authenticity protocols.

While spurious drugs and rogue online pharmacies should be a concern to patients, Pharmacist Bhangu notes that the issue simply requires patient education to look for the signs of a trustworthy Canadian pharmacy online as summarized above. One cautionary measure is to avoid any purported Canadian drugs website or online pharmacies which sell consumers prescription drugs online without having first received a prescription from the patient’s own personal physician. Commonly referred to as “online prescribing,” the practice of receiving a prescription through an online questionnaire and without a face-to-face medical examination by a doctor, is not considered to be a valid medical practice at genuine Canadian online pharmacies. Patients are encouraged to learn more by visiting NorthWestPharmacy.com.

Reputable Canadian Pharmacy?s Online Drugs Get High Product Satisfaction Scores from Canadian Online Pharmacies Customers

Reputable Canadian Pharmacy’s Online Drugs Get High Product Satisfaction Scores from Canadian Online Pharmacies Customers

(PRWEB) May 30, 2011

NorthWestPharmacy.com, a recognized leader of Canadian pharmacies online, announces that its patients are highly satisfied with the quality of the authentic Canadian drugs and international medicines they receive from the company. According to data obtained through Shopper Approved, a leading online reviews and ratings firm, more than 99% of the Canadian online pharmacy’s patients are satisfied with the products they’ve received from NorthWestPharmacy.com.

Every customer is given the opportunity to rate the Canadian online drugs company on all aspects of its performance, including the customer’s satisfaction with the product received, via Shopper Approved’s proprietary online review software. The software does not permit a customer to review NorthWestPharmacy.com until they have completed a purchase with the Canadian pharmacy online which helps ensure that all reviews are from genuine customers only. Since the Canadian drugs retailer does not own or operate the software, it is not able to edit any of the reviews. This ensures that all reviews – positive or negative – are collected without any interference from the merchant being reviewed. Shopper Approved then displays all customer ratings for the public to consider.

NorthWestPharmacy.com was accepted into the Shopper Approved reviews system in mid-December 2010. Since then more than 19,000 customers of the Canadian pharmacy website have submitted their reviews through Shopper Approved and have made NorthWestPharmacy.com the most independently and publicly five-star rated online Canadian pharmacy in the world. Nearly 3000 of these reviewers have assigned a rating to their “product satisfaction.” Well over 99% of them give the Canada pharmacy company a score of three to five stars on this dimension with the vast majority opting for the highest five-star designation. (A rating of less than two stars is considered to mean the consumer was not satisfied with the product received and three stars or more is considered to mean the consumer was satisfied with the product.) Among all Canadian online pharmacies, only NorthWestPharmacy.com has been awarded the prestigious five-star seal from Shopper Approved.

The unbiased NorthWest Pharmacy ratings from these thousands of Canadian online pharmacies patients squarely contradict the contention that all online pharmacies are unsafe. As in many other industries, there are both rogues and reputable companies. NorthWestPharmacy.com is proud to safely provide several hundred thousand American patients with low cost and high quality authentic Canadian drugs online as well as international pharmaceuticals.

The Canadian drugs retailer is also a certified member of the Canadian International Pharmacy Association and a best practice site with the International Pharmacy Association of British Columbia. Its suppliers and medicines have been thoroughly vetted by its medical and legal team and all its dispensing pharmacies are independently verified by Pharmacy Checker. Consumers can rest further assured that their purchases from this Canadian pharmacy leader are guaranteed by yet another third party – buySAFE – which is itself underwritten by some of the biggest insurance companies on the planet. The Canadian pharmacy site is also one of a few Canadian pharmacies online that offer industry leading TRUSTe certified privacy standards.

Statement from Melissa Murer Corrigan, RPh, Executive Director and CEO of Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)

Statement from Melissa Murer Corrigan, RPh, Executive Director and CEO of Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)

Washington, DC (PRWEB) December 19, 2008

The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is pleased to support the Ohio Legislature for passing the “Emily’s Law” measure into law on December 16, requiring a competency test and background check for pharmacy technicians in the state. The story of Emily Jerry’s tragic death from receiving the wrong IV solution demonstrates that errors in pharmacy can have dire consequences. This critical patient safety legislation passed with significant input from the Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) and the Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacists (OSHP). In addition to efforts in Ohio, pharmacy associations across the country are invested in the protection of the public. The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) and PTCB will serve as resources to Ohio and any state board of pharmacy to implement a law that has strong safeguards and standards for consumer safety.

Pharmacy technicians play a critical role in ensuring patient safety – technicians prepare and dispense medications and maintain related records for patients in a hospital or community setting under the supervision of a pharmacist. Safe medication-use-systems require the support of well-qualified and competent pharmacy technicians. The pharmacy technician is accountable to the supervising pharmacist who is legally responsible through state licensure for the care and safety of patients served by the pharmacy. PTCB is the only certification currently available that has received high marks in an evaluation by the NABP and is endorsed by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), NABP, and other professional pharmacy organizations. PTCB has certified over 320,000 technicians since 1995 with the goal of ensuring that pharmacy technicians are able to work more effectively with pharmacists to offer better patient care and service and prevent medication errors.

Studies show without a doubt that Americans expect consistent standards for competence of pharmacy technicians. Last year, a poll commissioned by PTCB showed that American consumers – in fact, 91% of those surveyed – support strong regulations across the country to protect patient safety by requiring that pharmacy technicians be trained and certified. In fact, the study showed that the majority believe such protections already exist – only 13% of Americans polled correctly recognized that there are no nationwide requirements for the training and certification of pharmacy technicians.

In addition to Ohio, states such as Florida and Illinois have recently enacted regulations for pharmacy technicians to protect the public. PTCB believes that patients expect and deserve a high standard of safety when it comes to how their prescription medications are dispensed and consistent requirements for pharmacy technician certification in every state is an important first step towards meeting those standards.

About the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)

PTCB was established in January 1995 and is governed by five pharmacy organizations – the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), the Illinois Council of Health-System Pharmacists (ICHP), the Michigan Pharmacists Association (MPA) and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP). The goal of the PTCB national certification program is to enable pharmacy technicians to work more effectively with pharmacists to offer safe and effective patient care and service. PTCB contracts with Pearson VUE, the industry’s technology leader, as its computer-based testing vendor. PTCB draws upon the experience and expertise of its 13-year partner, Professional Examination Service (PES) for test development.
