Xhale and Win Big With Hookah Tobacco Alternative Xhale Steam Stones

Steam Stones hookah smoke alternative: Coined as “the next generation of hookah,” Xhale Steam Stones are free of the tar, carcinogens, carbon monoxide, and guilt that come with traditional tobacco.

Commerce, CA (PRWEB) March 21, 2012

Xhale, a division of PhD Marketing, presents the “Xhale and Win Big” YouTube video review contest for its new hookah tobacco alternative Xhale Steam Stones. Video reviews can be uploaded to Xhale Steam Stones’ YouTube channel from now until May 1, 2012. The contestant whose video gets the most views by July 1, 2012 wins a grand prize of $ 2,000.

Coined as “the next generation of hookah,” the new Xhale Steam Stones were created by PhD Marketing, Inc. as a smoking alternative based on the same concept as electronic cigarettes, or e-cigs. In both cases, an evaporation of liquid takes place that looks identical to regular smoke, but lacks many of the harmful chemicals. The Xhale Steam Stones work like regular hookah, or shisha, tobacco without the carcinogens, carbon monoxide, and guilt associated with traditional tobacco smoke.

Xhale Steam Stones are easy to use and are enjoyed the same way as regular hookah tobacco. Place the desired amount of Xhale Steam Stones in the bowl. (Using a funnel-style bowl is required.) Cover the bowl with aluminum foil and perforate with small holes. Place the heated coals on top of the aluminum foil. The stones take about 2 minutes to heat up. When they begin to steam, they’re ready to use. The stones will steam until they are done with no unpleasant or unwanted flavor, guaranteed.

People interested in participating in the Xhale and Win Big contest need to email their home addresses to contest(at)xhalesteamstones(dot)com to receive a free sample of the stones in the mail. Once the stones arrive, contestants should try them and record an interesting video review for the product that’s at least 90 seconds long. Videos should then be uploaded to the Xhale Steam Stones YouTube channel, http://www.youtube.com/xhalesteamstones, by May 1, 2012. The contest will then be in the hands of YouTubers everywhere and the video with the most views by July 1, 2012 wins the grand prize of $ 2,000.

Xhale Steam Stones come in 24 different flavors, like banana, melon dew, orange, peach, pina colada, raspberry, strawberry, grape, and many more. Now available on their website, http://www.xhalesteamstones.com, for $ 14.99 per 250-gram container, Xhale Steam Stones are an affordable and health conscious way to minimize first and second-hand effects of smoking hookah.

The Xhale and Win Big contest is open to legal U.S. residents with a valid email address. Contestants can also include those who are new or existing registrants of http://www.xhalesteamstones.com, or who are Facebook and/or Twitter fans/followers of Xhale Steam Stones with valid email address.

Kansas Health Information Network and ICA Discuss Finding Success in a Large and Diverse Multi-State HIE

Kansas Health Information Network and ICA Discuss Finding Success in a Large and Diverse Multi-State HIE

New York, NY (PRWEB) August 11, 2011

The Institute for Health Technology Transformation announced today that Laura McCrary, EdD, Executive Director, Kansas Health Information Network and John Tempesco, Chief Marketing Officer, ICA will be delivering a case study entitled, “Finding Success in a Large and Diverse Multi-State HIE” at the Institute’s Health IT Summit in Seattle taking place August 15-16, 2011 at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel.

Dr. McCrary and John Tempesco will provide a high-level overview of the Kansas Health Information Network (KHIN) project discussing how this model works well for both urban and rural communities and how it is bringing this community model to all participants, not just to hospitals. They will also discuss how KHIN defines a community as well as the challenges of linking both urban and rural settings with their implicit differences. Kansas has more critical access hospitals than any other state in the US and Dr. McCrary and John Tempesco will share how this model can be replicated elsewhere in the country.

“KHIN provides services to all of Kansas and portions of northwest Missouri encompassing large urban and rural areas. KHIN’s goal is to connect 80% of healthcare providers in the service area including 163 hospitals, 4500 physicians, 100 public health departments, 40 community mental health centers and 400 long term care facilities. Our challenge of linking this large population requires health information exchange functionality that integrates with disparate EMR/EHR systems and provides the correct clinical data at the point-of-care. ICA’s CareAlign® was the tool we needed to accomplish this complex task,” McCrary says.

The iHT2 Health IT Summit in Seattle is the premier executive summit focused on the strategies and tools that are re-defining customer care, collaboration and efficiency in the health care provider markets.

Health Care Courses Offered Online, in Classroom by San Diego State University

Health Care Courses Offered Online, in Classroom by San Diego State University

(PRWEB) July 22, 2011

Even while the economy struggles, Monster.com reports that health care “continues to be the career success story of the past few years.” From the start of the downturn in December 2007 until September 2010, the healthcare sector grew by 720,000 jobs while all other industries lost nearly 8.5 million jobs, according to an analysis of Bureau of Labor Statistics data.

With health care being such a major force within San Diego County and throughout America, San Diego State University’s College of Extended Studies offers both in-class and online professional health care certificate and certification programs for individuals to prepare for these lucrative careers.

“I was a graduate of the EKG certificate class and with the knowledge gained, I was

able to land a job working as an assistant for the director of cardiology at Scripps Mercy Hospital,” said former student Lindsay Collins. “The experience I gained has certainly paid off in my new career. The first day on the job, I successfully completed five EKGs.”

U.S. News and World Report projected at the beginning of the year that 13 of the 50 best careers for 2011 are in the health care industry while reporting the following:

The growth trend in health care is almost unstoppable: Millions and millions of aging baby boomers will continue to place a heightened demand on health care providers, as well as provide plenty of opportunity for medical innovation.

The most recent Department of Labor report stated that health care will generate 3.2 million new wage and salary jobs between 2008 and 2018, more than any other industry, largely in response to rapid growth in the elderly population.

In responding to this vital need for health care workers, SDSU’s College of Extended Studies has programs that will qualify students to enter the health care field in as little as six months. These courses are hands-on and teach practical and needed skills, and are scheduled for working adults and taught by industry experts.

The College is an approved provider for education-to-career funding through San Diego Workforce Partnership, Military Spouse, and Veterans benefits. Additionally, SDSU’s College of Extended Studies has become an educational partner for The Bridge to Employment for Healthcare Grant in partnership with Comprehensive Training Systems for all health care classroom courses. This grant provides tuition funding up to $ 7,000 for all eligible classroom healthcare training programs listed on the Workforce Investment Act’s Eligible Training Provider List.

For more information on eligibility, call (619) 594-3946.

Professional Woman’s Magazine notes health care as growing career field since the fastest growing demographic is of people turning 65, and the number of people requiring health care services is also growing along with it. In order to address this public need, more and more pharmacy technicians are finding employment, the magazine reports.

Isabella Burgan, a recent graduate of SDSU’s pharmacy technician program, said it will be invaluable to her career.

“Even though there was a lot to learn, we were able to get through all of the material without any issues,” she said. “I feel that I am much better prepared to take the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) exam and have a pretty good idea of what to expect when I find a job as a pharmacy technician. I am really looking forward to working in this exciting field.”

SDSU’s Extended Studies also prepares individuals for health care occupations through such courses as administrative dental assistant, administrative medical specialist with medical billing and coding, and clinical dental assistant.

The College offers medical transcription and medical terminology programs. Medical transcriptionists are expected to experience a 10.5% job growth, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which also says that medical receptionists are projected to grow by 22% from 2008-18.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics further predicts a growth of 9-18% for dietitians and nutritionists from 2008-18. SDSU’s Extended Studies offers an Online Nutrition Certificate program with courses such as Introduction to Sports Nutrition and Performance as well as Public Nutrition and Wellness Education through the Online Professional Certificate program in Nutrition for Optimal Health, Wellness, and Sports.

According to the Research and Labor Market Intelligence Team of the San Diego Workforce Partnership, San Diego echoes these national themes. San Diego Workforce Partnership reports that total health care jobs in San Diego County are expected to rise by 55% from 2000 to 2020.

Two CDC Professionals to Teach New Online Course on Health and Emergency Management at Millersville University

Two CDC Professionals to Teach New Online Course on Health and Emergency Management at Millersville University

Millersville, PA (PRWEB) July 28, 2011

The Millersville University Center for Disaster Research and Education announces a new course on health and emergency management as part of its Master of Science in Emergency Management. The new course will be taught completely online by CDC physicist Dr. Paul Charp and CDC supervisory scientist Mr. Greg Zarus. The course begins August 29th. Interested professionals can take this one course as a standalone or as part of the full master’s degree.

The course will focus on better understanding health priorities associated with a chemical or radiological incident; differentiating between chemical weapons events versus other chemical or radiological events; defining rate limiting factors; differentiating and calculating risks and hazards; applying principles of preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation; and identifying and determining roles and responsibilities around these principles and the potential situation.

The course was developed to help emergency managers or leaders to better manage, minimize or prevent health disasters as a result of a natural disaster. “Often times when a disaster strikes, first responders or emergency management teams act on the situation that is directly in front of them, as opposed to having a plan ready to implement. Systems and processes need to be put in place that are proactive regarding the assessment of hazardous materials, the response to the condition of the materials and communications to management teams. These are all critical issues taught in the Millersville program and critical to preserving life and restoring a community,” said Dr. Paul Charp, the senior health physicist at the CDC Division of Health Assessment and Consultation and one of the faculty members teaching the course at Millersville University.

“We are very fortunate to have Paul Charp and Greg Zarus teaching this course. They are two exceptional practitioners, scientists and teachers in the field,” said Sepi Yalda, Program Director for the Master of Science in Emergency Management at Millersville University.

Dr. Charp is senior health physicist in the CDC Division of Health Assessment and Consultation. He’s responsible for evaluating radioactive materials in the environment and their effects on public health. In addition, he serves on the National Advisory Team for Environment, Food, and Health, and he teaches nuclear engineering at Georgia Tech. More recently, he was deployed to the CDC’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to assist with the Japanese nuclear incident at Fukushima.

Mr. Greg Zarus is a supervisory scientist at the CDC and manager of the Public Health Assessment Program. After getting an MS in Atmospheric Science and Geophysics at Texas Tech, he went on to do graduate work in Environmental Engineering at Rutgers. He led the EPA’s Air Quality Modeling Team before moving over to the CDC. At the CDC, his work focuses on air pollution and managing investigations of various exposures. He also leads a multidisciplinary team that works to provide rapid consultations on environmental exposures, and he is the mayor of Pine Lake, a small town in Georgia.

About the Millersville University Center for Disaster Research and Education

Millersville University Center for Disaster Research and Education was created in 2003 and provides multi-discipline education, research and internship opportunities; contributes to the next generation of disaster researchers and managers; conducts research on behavioral or organizational responses to disasters and terrorism; and disseminates research in the field that is useful to the general public, mass media personnel, and emergency management personnel, as well as researchers. The Master of Science in Emergency Management program began accepting students and working professionals in 2007.
